Abstract Expressionism implemented in Castart AW25:
Fun For Life: A New Blueprint

Bringing our new collection to life always starts at the table—with shared ideas, feelings, and reflections as a team. In 2024, change was all around us, both culturally and socially. While we’re grateful for the momentum, the AW’25 collection was born out of a longing for simplicity—like a bike ride on a sunny day or joking with friends on a lazy Sunday. At our core, we want our clothes to radiate a feeling, and this time, that feeling was simply: fun.
That sentiment naturally led us to Abstract Expressionism. After World War II, the art world shifted from Paris to New York—moving away from formality and technique towards spontaneity and joy. Artists of the New York School, like Jackson Pollock and Willem De Kooning, embraced raw emotion, bold gestures, and a sense of freedom in their work. Their process was less about thinking and more about feeling, something we deeply relate to in our design approach.

Colour played a major role for these artists, and it does for us too. Beyond aesthetics, colour has a psychological impact: red energises, blue reassures, green restores. For those who’ve followed us from the start, you’ll remember our brightly coloured knitwear—the spark that ignited Castart. Over the years, we’ve grown in detail, technique, and fabric development, while holding onto that bold, expressive colour identity. In AW’25, that same spirit returns—familiar yet refreshed.
We also placed special focus on tangible elements like texture and quality. Garments become language: a way for the wearer to express their energy and mood. Paint splatters translate to knitwear textures, sweeping brushstrokes become graphic prints, and colour-blocked patterns reappear on denim. Just as the New York School artists used canvas for expression, we use clothing—always with a sense of spontaneity, creativity, and above all, joy.
